Computer software is ever more connected, and encourages ever more connections between us. Someone in Canada sets up a joke on Twitter, someone in Venezuela finishes in the punchline, and someone in Australia chuckles — all in mere moments.
Before scientists understood the mechanisms underlying gravity and electromagnetism, they talked of action at a distance: the spooky way that one body affects another with nothing seemingly to connect them. This blog deals with my efforts to understand the new ways in which actions can cross distances.
